Forensic Heroes

I am not much of a movie goer and hardly watch TV, but I quite enjoyed watching this series with my family at home.

Each forensic case was always a suspense and I was suprised I could stay up late to keep watching the series.

Happy Mothers' Day

I have slowed down blogging as my 5 year-old Mac has konked out. Now using a new PC. Was thinking of a new Mac but my favorite Bible Soft 3.0 program did not work in my Mac (even after fragmenting the hard drive space for Microsoft programs) hence no gospel writings published by me since 5 years ago as I need the software, to check verses, concordance etc.

I have tried many Bible programs but only like PC Bible Soft.

Happy Mothers' Day!

Shin splints

Dad had L4-5 discectomy to his back >30 years ago (ie slipped disc operation). He had a MRI which showed nothing in the investigation of his recent recurrent leg pain.

He goes for morning walk every day for an hour with very old worn out shoes. We are treating him for shin splints as he has those exact symptoms. With no cushion in the shoes it stresses the anterior tibia (shin). Thriftiness on the shoes led to expensive medical fees and MRI scan :-(.

What are shin splints?

Shin splints are injuries to the front of the outer leg. While the exact injury is not known, shin splints seem to result from inflammation from injury to the tendon (posterior peroneal tendon) and adjacent tissues in the front of the outer leg.

Shin splints represent one member of a group of injuries called "overuse injuries." Shin splints occur most commonly in runners or aggressive walkers.

What are the symptoms of shin splints?

Shin splints cause pain in the front of the outer leg below the knee. The pain of shin splints is characteristically located on the outer edge of the mid region of the leg next to the shin bone (tibia). An area of discomfort measuring 4-6 inches (10-15 cm) in length is frequently present. Pain is often noted at the early portion of the workout, then lessens only to reappear near the end of the training session. Shin splint discomfort is often described as dull at first. However, with continuing trauma, the pain can become so extreme as to cause the athlete to stop workouts altogether.

Dr.Ci:Labo (Medical Cosmetics)

No pretty girls in the designs, but just pure science culminating in effective and simple products which I believe is one of the best. Their Aqua Collagen Gel is really good.

There is only one Dr.Ci:Labo shop in Malaysia and it is in KLCC Isetan. They are extremely successful in Japan where it is founded.

Asian Godfathers

I bought this book 2 weeks ago and just finished reading it. A bulk of it is about how Chinese immigrants in South East Asia teamed up with the local political aristocrats to build their huge empires.

Doing biz in China

Since we have been actively doing biz in China with our own WFOE (wholly foreign owned enterprise licensed for import/export/wholesale of foods/food supplements/cosmetics), people still ask me whether it is too late to enter China. Yes the license we obtained are now even harder to get, but if you do not go to China where else do you want to go these days?

This is a book on doing biz in China given to me by my auditors PWC in Guangzhou 2 years ago.

Below is a book that is an interesting read.

孔子

I watched this last night. Got the DVD in Guangzhou.

This is a China made film and Confucius was played by Chow Yuen Fatt.

I only got to know that Confucius is a top military strategist after watching the film.

Kuih Lapis

This Indonesian layer cake (kuih lapis) was hand carried from Indonesia by a friend. A bit oily but very nice.

Kuih lapis is a Dutch-Indonesian layered cake. It was developed during colonial times in the Dutch East Indies and may have been based on Dutch cake recipes using local ingredients.
