Abacus beads for lunch

This is my favorite Hakka (da bu)dish. It is called abacus beads coz' it looks like the abacus beads that the Chinese used as a calculator.

A dough is made from yam and starch, then beads of it is pressed out and boiled in water until it floats in the water signifying it is cooked.

Then it is fried with ha mai (small shrimps), mushrooms, pork pieces and cuttlefish.

Really Yummy! I only get to eat this delicacy during Chinese New Year!
