陈毅 Chen Yi

Chen was a commander of the New Fourth Army during the Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945), spearheaded the Shandong counter-offensive during the Chinese Civil War, and later commanded the Communist armies that defeated the KMT forces at Huai-Hai and conquered the lower Yangtze region in 1948-49. He was made a Marshal of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in 1955.

They are doing refurbishment works on the Bund (for the Shanghai World 2010 EXPO) so you cannot walk around there as it is sealed. The only way to get a view is to see it from a building or restaurant.

There is usually a sign that 唐人街 (Tang Ren Jie) on all the Chinatowns I have visited。The Chinese refer themselves as 唐 人 after Tang Dynasty.
